GAA With A Twist was held for one night only, on the 14th of December. We spent months and months rehearsing for it, spending full days down in the gym for rehearsals. Our show was different because it was not a musical like we have every other year, it was a variety show. The theme was GAA and emmigration.
Before the show we all expected the show to fall apart on the night and no one believed it was all come together. There was a lot of negative thoughts but in the end it ended up alright. As a year, it took us a long time to get into the spirit of the show. We didn't take the rehearsals seriously for a very long time and i think that's why when it got close we were very negative, because we got a shock when it became a reality when we realised we were actually going to have to preform this onstage in front of the whole school and town.
A lot of resources were poured into our show. Angela choreographed the dance, Ms. Coyle composed the music, made sure we all sounded acceptable, Mr. Coughlan focused on our acting and deliverance while Ms. Lohan focused on making sure that all our costumes looked proper.
Due to the show being a new one, the script was always changing. Pieces were always been added or taken away right up until the day before the actual show.
My favourite part of the show was the dancing. I would never think to do it and it really pushed me outside my comfort zone. We had dancing with Angela every Tuesday and I always looked forward to it.
